Isle of Skye, Scotland
I've never seen rain in Scotland like the rain we had the night we drove alongside Loch Duich. We were here in October and the sun had set about an hour back. Scotland was as rainy as promised, but this night took the cake. Thunder clapped and the quick flashes of lightening were the addition to illuminating the roads sans our headlights. The wind bellowed and pushed against the car, as if warning us to turn around. But we took an extra stop a few hours back to look at a castle and we were already running late to check into our hostel.
Finally, at the end of Loch Alsh, we approached it, the Skye Bridge. From the surface street all we could see were lights dotting it's height. It felt massive. And the wind hadn't stopped. We got to the bridge and reached the top. Maybe it was my adrenaline, or my still not being used to driving on the otherside of the road, but I swear the bridge felt off. It felt like the winds were swaying the bridge and our car was just barely too heavy and we would collapse it.
We later found out this storm was every bit as bad as we imagined and found out the wind speed was over 90mph. Needless to say, after checked in, we needed a drink.

A very homey bar with comfort food your nan might make for you (if she were Scottish). We were the only two people at the bar and the bartender, the sweetest older lady, was developing cocktails for their Halloween party they were throwing the next week. She asked if would mind being her taste testers and she proceeded to make us 3-4 drinks each. Each one as delicious and fun as you might expect a Halloween cocktail be.
Talisker Distillery
Hard not to mention a distillery while in Scotland as a place to grab a drink. Talisker sits on Loch Harport, and you can taste the salt in the air. Their scotch carries that oceanside charactaristic. A beautiful facility with more beauty surrounding it.
Caora Dhubh Coffee Company
A nice coffee or a warm tea is sometimes all you need. Back dropped by Loch Harport, this place can pull a mean spro. Enjoy one there and grab another for takeaway.
