Montréal, Québec
I went to Montréal with a friend kind of on a whim. We were grabbing dinner one night at a new restaurant in Chattanooga, and I said, lets go on a trip. A few days later I found cheap tickets to Montréal, and month after that we were there! We both fell in love with Montréal rather quickly. The arts, food, drinks, and people were so welcoming. There was so much going on downtown and we meandered through a few different festivals. We did have a pretty wild time though, I ended up giving a guy CPR on night one. Night two we witnessed a very bloody bar fight. And night 3 there was fire across the street from our AirBnB. But none of that stopped us from having a great time!
Where to Drink:
Le Red Tiger
This is definitely more of a place to grab food, as they serve some of the best Vietnamese street food here. They do have great cocktails and a good selection of import beers, too. This is a must to destination for food.
Turbo Haüs
Pictured above, this was right next door to where we were staying. It's a punk/metal bar with a great selection of wine and drinks. The staff is what sold us though. All of them were so welcoming and friendly. We ended up coming here every night for a nightcap.
Le Petit Moscou
Around the corner from Turbo Haüs is Le Petit Moscou. A small Russian/Vodka bar. They had an excellent selection of vodka and the employees were a riot. We ended up playing a bar game with them and by the end of our night I think I took a near dozen shots of vodka. They have a mule menu that's pretty great, too!
Meltdown Montreal
On St. Denis is this barcade. A giant collection of cabinet games, pinball machines, an N64, and much more. There's a giant bar to pick from with a lot of video game themed cocktails.
Bishop & Bagg
In Mile-End is this British Pub with a true selection of UK beers and Guinness. They also boast a surprisingly great list of gins and a fun G&T menu. It's a traditional pub. This is also where we witnessed the bar fight.
Bar St. Denis
One of the best cocktail bars we visited with a gorgeous interior and the coolest ceiling. Make a reservation, but sit at the bar if you can. It's a pleasure watching the staff build such great cocktails. Their wine list is also fantastic.
One Punch Mickey's
I love an Irish Pub, and this place felt just like that -- maybe a little too on the nose with its decor, but all the right amount of sticky and plenty of Guinness flowing. Lots of TVs in here, so a great place to catch a match.
La Cale
This is a zero waste pub offering a great selection of local beer. Great cocktails on the menu and delicious food too. I don't believe we found another place that served a wide variety of local craft beer.
